What we do

Our intervention in the northern districts of Gulu and Amuru have been centred around:

Agriculture

The organization has taken seriously food insecurity crisis resulting from climate change and poverty in the region. EPPOVHA is empowering communities in villages through training of Community Care Coalition in sustainable agricultural methods and on environmental protection. They have also been trained in bee keeping and processing of foods.

Social Research and Policy Advocacy:

EPPOVHA has embarked on influencing policy and engaging policy makers on matters affecting the populace for example on rights and basic service delivery. This has been possible through partnership with agencies such as Advocates Coalition for Development and Environment (ACODE) ,and UNESCO for example, the organization was a central pillar in the Kampala Stakeholders Declaration on Education for Peace in 2011

HIV & AIDS Support

EPPOVHA runs Home based care approach for Orphans and HIV/AIDS (HOPE) which  supports thousands of orphans and vulnerable children. This was with support and funding from World Vision International. Communities were mobilised and Community Care Coalitions were formed and strengthened.

EPPOVHA Water and Sanitation Programme

Arising from the needs of returning people to their homes and in line with the Peace Recovery and Development Plan (PRDP), EPPOVHA plans to sink more  deep water wells (boreholes) in sub-counties in Gulu district to address the water and sanitation needs of these returning people.

In many households, children (especially girls), are kept out of school so that they can perform this and other related chores. In the Acholi sub-region, the sinking of deep and shallow water wells will put a clean,

EPPOVHA has taken up the basic need of water and sanitation in the context of return and resettlement of the suffering population. Water ranks the number priority in the daily needs of the population in Gulu. Women and families undergo a lot of pain in accessing water as they have to walk long distances ,que up even in the night for water. They have are vulnerable to abuses including rape and domestic violence.
